Leave & childcare planner

Plan your leave and childcare for 2026

Work out in a few steps how much leave you and your partner get, how to split it, and from which month you'll need childcare. Fixed days off are counted in, so you see exactly how many days of childcare remain.

Step 1 of 4

When is your baby due?

Everything revolves around this. From this date we calculate your leave and childcare need.

Frequently asked questions

How much leave do I get if I have a baby in 2026?

As the mother you are entitled to 16 weeks of pregnancy and maternity leave plus 9 weeks of paid parental leave (70% via UWV). Your partner gets 1 week of birth leave, 5 weeks of additional birth leave and also 9 weeks of paid parental leave.

When should I arrange childcare?

Waiting lists are often long, so ideally register during pregnancy. Based on your leave and working week, the planner shows in which month you will need childcare.

Do my regular days off count towards childcare?

Yes. If you work part-time, every fixed day off is one day less childcare. If both parents work four days, for example, you often only need childcare three days a week.

How much paid parental leave is there in 2026?

Every parent is entitled to 9 weeks of paid parental leave in the child's first year, paid at 70% of the daily wage via UWV. In addition, every parent may take 17 weeks of unpaid parental leave.

Can I save my leave plan and adjust it later?

Yes. With a free Opvango account you save your plan with a name and date, so you can reload it later, adjust it and export it as a PDF or calendar file.

Can I send the overview to my employer or payroll department?

Yes. You download your leave and childcare plan as a PDF showing, per leave type, the period, the number of weeks, the pay percentage and who pays it (employer or UWV). You can forward that overview straight to your employer, HR or payroll department, making the request and processing of your leave much faster.
